Imam-ul-Haq, Rizwan phones under forensic analysis in NCCIA probe

LAHORE: The mobile phones of Pakistan cricketers Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan are undergoing forensic and technical analysis as part of an investigation by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), according to sources.

The investigation is reportedly focusing primarily on financial matters and suspected transactions, with authorities examining the players’ financial activities before and after Pakistan’s England series.

Sources said investigators are also reviewing details of the two players’ bank accounts. Any suspicious payments allegedly received from companies, individuals or other organisations are expected to be examined as part of the inquiry.

Data recovered from the mobile phones is also being linked to the financial aspect of the investigation, sources said.

The development comes as the NCCIA examines several issues involving the two Pakistan players, including alleged leaks from the dressing room during the England series.

Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan appeared before the NCCIA Lahore office on Thursday as part of the ongoing investigation.

The agency is reportedly examining digital information and financial records to determine whether any suspicious communications or transactions took place around the England series.

Investigators are expected to analyse relevant data from the players’ devices alongside financial information to establish whether there is any connection between the communications and transactions under scrutiny.

However, the investigation remains ongoing and no conclusions have been announced.

The NCCIA has so far not officially confirmed any allegations against either Imam-ul-Haq or Mohammad Rizwan.

The forensic examination of their mobile phones is therefore being treated as part of an ongoing inquiry rather than evidence of wrongdoing.
