A 21-year-old student and model, Muskan, was allegedly stabbed to death inside her home in New Delhi, with police later arresting her former gym trainer in connection with the case.

NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old student and model, Muskan, was allegedly stabbed to death inside her home in New Delhi, with police later arresting her former gym trainer in connection with the case.

According to Indian media reports, the incident took place in the Tilak Nagar area of west Delhi on Wednesday evening. Muskan was reportedly alone at home when she was attacked.

Police said the young woman suffered multiple stab wounds to different parts of her body particularly her abdomen. She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, but doctors declared her dead.

A domestic worker reportedly found Muskan seriously injured on the second floor of the house and informed her family, following which police were called to the scene.

During the investigation, police learned that Muskan and the suspect identified as Imran had known each other for around one-and-a-half years. Imran had previously worked as a trainer at the gym Muskan used to attend.

Police said Imran had left his job at the gym and allegedly fled shortly after the killing. Investigators launched multiple teams to trace and arrest him.

Initial findings suggest that Imran had allegedly been upset with Muskan for around two months. Police suspect he objected to her communicating with another person although the exact motive behind the killing has not yet been established.

Investigators believe Imran went to Muskan’s home on Wednesday evening where an argument allegedly broke out between the two. Police suspect the dispute escalated before the alleged knife attack.

Authorities have stressed that the final motive will only become clear after the investigation is completed.

Muskan’s friend Aman told the media that she was the youngest of four siblings. Her elder sister was in Chandigarh at the time of the incident and, after receiving the news, asked Aman to go to Muskan’s home and help take her to hospital.

The family has also alleged that Imran had been harassing Muskan for a long period and claimed that similar incidents had occurred in the past. These allegations have yet to be fully established by investigators.

Police have registered a murder case based on a complaint by Muskan’s brother. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas, while evidence is also being collected from Muskan’s mobile phone.

Police teams have searched the suspect’s home and the gym where he previously worked. His family members and friends have also been questioned as investigators attempt to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Authorities are examining the relationship between Muskan and Imran their communications before the incident and the argument that allegedly preceded the attack.

A post-mortem examination is also expected to establish the precise cause of death and the nature of the injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have said further details about the motive and circumstances of the killing will emerge as evidence is examined.
