Salman, who is serving as a substitute fielder in the match, showed remarkable reflexes in the 48th over of England’s innings. The breakthrough came off the bowling of Khurram Shahzad, as Cox attempted to play a back-foot drive.

The ball took the edge of Cox’s bat and flew quickly towards Salman’s right at slip. Reacting instantly, Salman dived full length and stretched out his right hand to complete a remarkable one-handed catch.

The catch dismissed Cox for 55, ending an important partnership between Cox and Jamie Smith that had helped England recover after Pakistan’s bowlers made early inroads. The catch was widely praised for its difficulty and timing.

After completing the catch, Salman remained on the ground for a few moments before his teammates gathered around him to celebrate. The spectacular effort also drew an enthusiastic reaction from the commentators.

The catch proved particularly important as Pakistan had earlier reduced England to 80 for four before Cox and Smith steadied the innings. Mohammad Abbas led Pakistan’s bowling attack with four wickets, while Mohammad Ali also made crucial breakthroughs.

England eventually finished the rain- and bad-light-affected opening day on 248 for nine after 56 overs, leaving Pakistan with a strong opportunity to seize control of the Test. 

The Lord’s Test is the second match of the three-Test series. England won the opening Test at Headingley by an innings and 103 runs, giving them a 1-0 lead in the series.

Salman’s spectacular effort at slip provided Pakistan with a memorable fielding highlight on a day when the team showed a much-improved performance after their heavy defeat in the first Test.

The second Test is being played at Lord’s from August 27 to 31, with Pakistan looking to level the series.
