The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the six-team tournament will be held from February 14 to 28, 2027, with matches scheduled to take place in Mumbai and Vadodara.

The tournament will feature the host nation India along with Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka. The participating teams have qualified on the basis of their positions in the women’s T20I rankings.

The qualification cut-off date for determining the top six teams was set as July 6. These teams will compete for the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy title under the announced tournament format.

Sri Lanka had originally been scheduled to host the competition. However, the country is still required to implement reforms in accordance with ICC guidelines. Matters concerning the reforms were discussed and agreed upon during the ICC Annual Conference held in July.

The ICC subsequently assessed three potential host countries — Bangladesh, India and South Africa — before making its final decision. The ICC Board confirmed India as the host at its latest meeting.

The decision marks another major international cricket event for India and places Mumbai and Vadodara at the centre of the women’s cricket calendar in February 2027.

India will enter the tournament as the host nation, while Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka will also compete for the trophy. The participation of six highly ranked teams is expected to make the event a competitive contest among some of the leading sides in women’s international cricket.

The change in venue comes after the ICC reviewed the available hosting options and assessed the suitability of the candidate countries. Sri Lanka’s pending reforms played a key role in the decision to move the tournament away from its originally planned host nation.

With the tournament dates and venues now confirmed teams will have an opportunity to plan their preparations well in advance. The event is expected to provide another major platform for the growth and promotion of women’s cricket globally.

The ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 will therefore take place in India from February 14 to 28, with Mumbai and Vadodara set to host the six-team competition.
