Saif Ali Khan reveals why he chose Haiwaan

Saif Ali Khan recently gave fans a rare opportunity to hear from him directly as he appeared in his first-ever Instagram Live session while promoting his upcoming Hindi film Haiwaan. The actor joined the live interaction through his official fan account, as he does not personally maintain an official Instagram profile.

The session attracted considerable attention from fans, who were eager to hear Saif discuss his latest project and his experience working with an impressive ensemble cast. His appearance also offered viewers an unusual glimpse into the actor’s thoughts about the film, his character and his reunion with Akshay Kumar.

During the interaction, Saif explained what convinced him to become part of Haiwaan. According to the actor, two factors particularly influenced his decision: the opportunity to work with acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan and the distinctive nature of his character.

Saif plays a visually impaired man in the film, but his character is far from helpless. The role reportedly requires him to take part in several action sequences, creating an unusual combination of vulnerability and physical intensity.

Discussing the character, Saif said that he found the idea of portraying a blind man who is also involved in action sequences particularly interesting. He also expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with Priyadarshan, whom he referred to as “Priyan sir.”

For Saif, the unusual role provided an opportunity to explore a character unlike many of those he has portrayed previously. The combination of action, drama and the character’s visual impairment appears to be one of the elements that made the project appealing to him.

Haiwaan is also significant because it reunites Saif and Akshay Kumar on screen after nearly two decades. The two actors previously worked together in the 2008 film Tashan, making their latest collaboration a much-anticipated reunion for audiences.

Reflecting on his experience of working with Akshay again, Saif spoke positively about the reunion. He said that he enjoyed collaborating with his former co-star and described the making of Haiwaan as a thrilling experience.

The upcoming movie is being directed and co-written by Priyadarshan. It is being produced by KVN Productions and Thespian Films and is based on Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam, which starred veteran actor Mohanlal in the lead role.

The Hindi adaptation brings the original story to a new audience while featuring a fresh cast and Hindi-language setting. Saif’s role as a visually impaired protagonist is expected to be one of the central elements of the film, particularly because the character is involved in action despite his inability to see.

Alongside Saif and Akshay, Haiwaan features several other prominent performers, including Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher. Their involvement adds further depth to the film’s ensemble cast.
