India recall Bhuvneshwar Kumar for high-Stakes T20I decider

India have recalled experienced fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar to their T20I squad ahead of the fifth and final match against the West Indies, scheduled for Sunday in Bengaluru.

The 36-year-old has been brought in as cover for left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who suffered a shoulder injury during the fourth T20I on Wednesday. Arshdeep was struck by a bouncer while batting and had to retire hurt as India lost the match, allowing the West Indies to level the five-match series at 2-2.

Arshdeep has not been ruled out of the series decider, with his availability dependent on his recovery. The team management will assess his fitness before making a final decision, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Kumar’s inclusion marks a potential step forward in his return to India’s international setup. He last represented the country in 2022 but has recently returned to the selectors’ plans after being named in the squad for the upcoming T20I tour of New Zealand.

The experienced right-arm pacer has played 87 T20 internationals for India, taking 90 wickets at an average of 23.10. His experience could prove valuable as India prepare for a decisive encounter against a West Indies side that has regained momentum after winning the fourth match.

India will aim to reclaim the series lead and secure victory in the final T20I, while the West Indies will look to carry their recent form into the deciding contest..
