The incident took place in Davangere district where the injured leopard was found lying on a road after reportedly being struck by a vehicle.

After receiving information about the animal, a team from the forest department reached the location and began efforts to safely rescue the leopard and move it to a veterinary facility for treatment.

The rescue operation suddenly became dangerous when the injured animal attacked one of the officials.

According to reports, the rescue team had administered a tranquilizer to the leopard, but the drug had not yet taken full effect. The animal suddenly turned towards one of the forest officials and lunged at him.

Video footage of the incident shows the leopard pouncing on the official and knocking him to the ground. The official appeared to have little time to react as his colleagues immediately moved in to help.

The rescuers used a stick to try to keep the animal away from the injured official. The leopard eventually moved back allowing the official to get back on his feet.

Following the attack, the injured leopard crawled towards a grassy area beside the highway. The rescue team continued its efforts to safely restrain the animal.

The forest officials eventually succeeded in rescuing the leopard and transported it to an animal hospital, where it was to receive treatment for injuries sustained in the road accident.

The leopard was ultimately taken to a veterinary facility for treatment following the dramatic rescue operation.
