Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni arrived in Islamabad on Monday night for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and holding discussions on regional security and diplomatic developments.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the visiting Iranian official upon his arrival. The visit comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East and ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce regional instability.

During his stay, Momeni is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The meetings are expected to focus on border security, counterterrorism cooperation, regional peace, and matters of mutual interest.

Diplomatic sources said the visit will also include discussions on the latest developments in the Middle East, including the ongoing conflict involving Iran and the United States. Pakistan has continued to advocate dialogue and peaceful engagement as the best way to resolve regional disputes.

Officials are also expected to review recent diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions in the region. Pakistan has remained actively engaged in encouraging negotiations between the concerned parties and has consistently called for restraint to prevent further escalation.

The visit comes as military exchanges between the United States and Iran continue to intensify. Both sides have carried out fresh attacks in recent days, raising concerns over regional security and the potential impact on international trade and energy supplies.

The continued conflict has increased uncertainty across the Middle East, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. Any disruption in the area has the potential to affect global energy markets and fuel prices.
