An Iranian senior official has said that international mediators have proposed a 10-day ceasefire between Iran and the United States in an effort to reduce tensions and restore diplomatic engagement.
Speaking to a British news agency, the official said the proposal aims to revive the interim agreement previously reached between Tehran and Washington. He added that mediators have also presented broader suggestions to help de-escalate the ongoing conflict between the two countries.
According to the official, the proposed ceasefire is intended to create space for both sides to explore ways of restoring the memorandum of understanding and restarting diplomatic efforts.
He further said the proposal includes discussions on reopening the Strait of Hormuz for a period ranging from 10 days to two weeks to ensure the safe movement of commercial shipping through the strategic waterway.
Meanwhile, Iran claimed it had carried out drone strikes against two US military targets in Kuwait as tensions across the region continued to rise.
