The Punjab judiciary has introduced a special vehicle purchase scheme that will allow judicial officers across the province to buy government-owned vehicles at highly discounted prices. The initiative was launched following approval from the Lahore High Court, after which the Director of the District Judiciary issued an official circular outlining the details of the program.
According to the circular, all eligible judicial officers have been instructed to submit a pay order for the prescribed amount to the Registrar of the Lahore High Court by July 22 in order to participate in the scheme.
The program has been introduced under the Transport Monetization Facility, a policy aimed at replacing certain transport-related benefits with a more flexible arrangement that enables officers to purchase official vehicles at subsidized rates. The initiative is expected to benefit nearly 2,000 judicial office serving across Punjab.
Under the scheme, eligible officers will be able to purchase government vehicles at discounted prices ranging from PKR 250,000 to PKR 350,000, depending on the category and condition of the vehicle. The offer provides an opportunity for judicial officers to acquire official vehicles at prices significantly lower than their market value.
A wide range of judicial officers will qualify for the program. These include District and Sessions Judges, Additional District and Sessions Judges, Senior Civil Judges, Civil Judges, and Judges of Family Courts. By extending eligibility across different levels of the judiciary, the Lahore High Court aims to ensure that officers serving in various judicial capacities can benefit from the initiative.
In addition to judges serving in regular civil and criminal courts, the scheme also covers members of several specialized courts and tribunals. Judges working in Anti-Terrorism Courts, Accountability Courts, Banking Courts, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Courts, Anti-Narcotics Courts, Customs Courts, and Labour Courts will also be eligible to purchase vehicles under the discounted scheme.
Furthermore, the facility has been extended to officers of the Punjab judiciary who are currently serving on deputation in other judicial institutions. This includes officers posted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Islamabad High Court, the Constitutional Court, and other government institutions. These officers will also be entitled to take advantage of the discounted vehicle purchase program, provided they meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the circular.
The Transport Monetization Facility is intended to improve administrative efficiency while offering practical financial benefits to judicial officers. By allowing eligible officials to purchase government vehicles at reduced prices, the initiative seeks to provide a cost-effective transportation solution while streamlining the management of official vehicle fleets.
The introduction of the scheme reflects ongoing efforts to modernize administrative policies within the judiciary and improve welfare measures for judicial officers. It also provides an organized mechanism for the disposal of government vehicles while ensuring that they continue to serve public officials in an efficient manner.
Eligible officers have been advised to complete the required formalities and submit their pay orders before the July 22 deadline to secure participation in the scheme. The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of judicial officers across Punjab and represents one of the latest administrative measures introduced with the approval of the Lahore High Court.
