TEHRAN: Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has raised serious doubts over the United States’ ability and willingness to honour its commitments, following reported Israeli strikes in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district.
In a post on social media platform X, Ghalibaf said the latest developments once again show that the US either lacks the political will or the capability to enforce its assurances.
He said allowing Israeli actions to continue while engaging in diplomatic talks undermines trust and weakens the credibility of any ongoing negotiations.
Ghalibaf criticised what he described as a “bad cop, good cop” strategy between the United States and Israel, calling it an outdated and ineffective approach.
He warned that agreements cannot move forward if commitments are not respected or implemented in practice.
