For the first time in Islamabad’s history, authorities have introduced a special mobile application called *Mahfooz Muharram* (Safe Muharram) to strengthen security arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram. The app allows citizens to report suspicious individuals, unusual activities, and any shortcomings in security measures directly to the authorities.
During a high-level review meeting on Muharram security preparations, the Federal Interior Minister directed officials to enforce strict checking procedures at all entry and exit points of religious gatherings and processions. He instructed senior officers to remain present in the field and ensure that security personnel receive proper food and welfare arrangements on time.
The minister also emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination with religious scholars to preserve peace and harmony throughout Muharram. He called for strict implementation of the agreed code of conduct and ordered authorities to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against provocative and hate-inciting content.
During the meeting, the Chief Commissioner and the Inspector General of Islamabad Police briefed participants on the security plan. They stated that authorities have completed security audits of all religious gatherings and processions. Peace committees and community vigilance groups have also become fully operational.
According to the briefing, the Islamabad administration remains in constant contact with religious scholars and organizers of processions and gatherings. Officials have completed the geo-tagging of all Imambargahs, majalis, and procession routes. Authorities will also use drones for digital surveillance, while security teams will have access to live location tracking and real-time image-sharing facilities to improve monitoring and emergency response.
