Islamabad to seal Red Zone ahead of long march

ISLAMABAD: Authorities have decided to seal Islamabad’s Red Zone and the extended Red Zone as a long march approaches the federal capital.

According to sources, all five routes leading towards the Red Zone will be completely closed as part of security arrangements for the protest. Containers will be placed in two layers at each of the five entry points to prevent access to the sensitive area.

A heavy contingent of police and other security personnel will also be deployed at the blocked routes. Security officials will monitor the situation closely and take further measures if necessary.

Sources said the extended Red Zone will also remain sealed during the long march. Access to the area will only be allowed in case of emergencies, while movement through the designated routes will remain restricted.

The decision comes as authorities step up security measures in Islamabad ahead of the expected arrival of long march participants. The Red Zone houses several key government buildings and sensitive installations, making it a major focus of the security arrangements.

Authorities have advised citizens to avoid the affected routes and use alternative roads to minimise inconvenience during the security operation.
