SEOUL: BLACKPINK member Jennie has announced the release date of her upcoming solo single Less Than A Lover, marking a new milestone in her music career as she steps into the role of a music video director.

Jennie revealed that the new track will be released on July 24 at 1 p.m. KST. She also confirmed that she wrote, composed and directed the music video, giving her full creative control over the project.

The teaser image shared by the singer features Jennie standing alongside a mystery figure in a field, with a message hinting at a new chapter in her artistic journey.

The upcoming release is Jennie’s first solo project after her debut studio album Ruby, which was released in March 2025 and received significant attention from fans worldwide.

The new single has already generated excitement among fans after Jennie performed a preview of the song during her appearance at Governors Ball in New York in June. She later showcased the track at major festival performances, including Roskilde Festival and Open’er Festival.

During these performances, Jennie also introduced other unreleased songs, increasing anticipation for her upcoming music projects.

Since establishing her own independent label, Odd Atelier, following her departure from YG Entertainment for solo activities, Jennie has taken greater control over her creative direction. Her latest release reflects her growing involvement in songwriting, production and visual storytelling.
