Authorities in Karachi have imposed Section 144 across the city until October 20, prohibiting protests, rallies and other public gatherings involving more than five people.
Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi issued the order on Sunday, October 11, citing concerns over traffic congestion, public inconvenience and potential threats to law and order.
According to the notification, demonstrations, sit-ins and rallies on major roads, intersections and roundabouts have been disrupting routine activities and creating security concerns. Road blockages have also affected the movement of emergency services and restricted access to hospitals.
The authorities said the restrictions were necessary to prevent possible untoward incidents, maintain public peace and protect the lives and property of citizens.
