Kareena hits back at ‘100 expressions’ trolling

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has addressed the online trolling she faced after appearing at the trailer launch of her upcoming crime thriller Daayra.

The 45-year-old actress became the subject of widespread social media discussion following the film’s trailer launch last week. Several social media users poked fun at her for making numerous facial expressions during the promotional event, with some even joking that she had made “100 expressions” on stage.

Kareena has now responded to the criticism in her own sarcastic style.

During another promotional appearance for Daayra, the actress referred to the controversy and humorously explained why she appeared so expressive at the trailer launch.

“As you can see, I made 100 expressions at the trailer launch because I didn’t get the chance to do them in the film, so I did them at the trailer launch,” Kareena quipped.

Her response appeared to be a light-hearted take on the criticism, showing that she was not taking the social media trolling too seriously.

Kareena also credited the film’s director, Meghna Gulzar, for keeping tight control over her performance and character. She suggested that the filmmaker ensured her portrayal remained within the demands of the role rather than allowing her to go overboard with her expressions.

Daayra marks a major collaboration between Kareena and Gulzar, who previously directed the acclaimed film Sam Bahadur. The upcoming project is a crime thriller in which Kareena plays DCP Ajooni Kohli.

The film also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran as DCP Raman Kumar. The story follows the two police officers as they find themselves on opposing sides of the legal system while dealing with the consequences of a crime.

With its police investigation, moral conflicts and crime-driven storyline, Daayra is expected to offer a darker and more intense role for Kareena.

The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on September 18, 2026.
