Pakistan honours Major Aziz Bhatti on martyrdom anniversary

Pakistan’s armed forces have paid tribute to Nishan-e-Haider recipient Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed on the 61st anniversary of his martyrdom, honouring his bravery and ultimate sacrifice for the country.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir, the chiefs of the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy, and the Pakistan Army paid tribute to Major Raja Aziz Bhatti on his martyrdom anniversary.

ISPR said Major Raja Aziz Bhatti displayed exceptional courage during the 1965 war while defending the Burki sector of Lahore against enemy forces.

The military said the decorated officer continued to confront the enemy for five days and five nights, demonstrating extraordinary courage and determination despite intense fighting.

Major Raja Aziz Bhatti ultimately embraced martyrdom while defending his position and leading his troops on the battlefield.

ISPR said his courage, leadership and immortal sacrifice remain an inspiration for the nation and serve as a guiding light for future generations.

Major Raja Aziz Bhatti was posthumously awarded Pakistan’s highest military honour, the Nishan-e-Haider, in recognition of his exceptional bravery and sacrifice during the 1965 war.
