Alia Bhatt recalls bizarre childhood prank by sister Shaheen

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has shared a hilarious childhood memory involving her elder sister Shaheen Bhatt, revealing how a simple prank once left her questioning her own family identity.

Alia spoke about the incident while discussing the concept of “ragebait” at the trailer launch of her upcoming Prime Video production Don’t Be Shy on Friday, September 11.

The actress recalled that Shaheen used to tease her when they were children by claiming that Alia was not actually the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan.

According to Alia, her sister would jokingly tell her that she had come “free with Parle-G biscuits.”

“It’s what Shaheen used to do to me as a kid. She used to say to me that I came free with Parle-G,” Alia recalled, explaining that Shaheen would insist she was not really their parents’ daughter.

Alia said the prank happened when she was around four years old, describing it as Shaheen’s way of “ragebaiting” her long before the term became popular online.

The revelation amused the audience at the event and offered a glimpse into the playful relationship between the two sisters.

Alia also reflected on her own journey in Bollywood during the event. She made her acting debut in 2012 with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, alongside Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra.

Recalling the 14 years since her debut, Alia highlighted the significance of launching a new generation of performers through her production.

“14 years ago, I made my debut as an actor, and 14 years later, I am launching four debutantes through my film,” she said.

Don’t Be Shy, produced by Alia and Shaheen Bhatt, stars Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora and Ansh Duggal. The film is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on September 25.

Meanwhile, Alia has several major projects in the pipeline. She will next feature in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, alongside husband Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The film is scheduled for release on January 21, 2027.

She is also attached to Tumbbad 2, directed by Adesh Prasad, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sohum Shah in the cast. The film is expected to arrive in cinemas on December 3, 2027.
