Preity Zinta reveals why she avoids watching her own films

Bollywood star Preity Zinta has revealed that she still feels uncomfortable watching herself on screen, despite spending nearly three decades in the film industry and appearing in more than 50 movies.

The 51-year-old actress and entrepreneur opened up about her unusual relationship with her own work during a recent interview with Hindustan Times, alongside her Vibe co-star Vanshika Dhir.

Zinta admitted that she rarely watches her films after they are completed because seeing herself on screen makes her feel awkward. She also acknowledged that she tends to focus on what she could have done differently rather than simply enjoying her performances.

“I can never judge myself on screen. I don’t see myself on screen. Once my movie is done, I don’t watch it,” she said.

The actress explained that watching her own performances often leaves her thinking about how she could have improved certain scenes.

“I find myself thinking: ‘I could have done this better,’” Zinta added.

Despite her long and successful career, the Kal Ho Naa Ho star said feelings similar to imposter syndrome can still remain. Her comments offer a glimpse into the self-doubt that can continue even after years of professional experience.

Zinta also discussed her experience performing action sequences in Vibe, where she plays Madam H, a highly skilled spy who recruits two unlikely individuals, portrayed by Kunal Kemmu and Sparsh Shrivastava, for a secret mission.

The actress revealed that she wanted to perform as much of her own action work as possible but acknowledged that complicated sequences require extensive technical expertise and trained professionals.

She recalled getting physically involved in the demanding scenes, including being kicked and punched during filming. However, she said the sequences looked far more exciting once they were completed and edited for the screen.

“When you do it, it’s so technical,” she explained.

Vibe marks Kunal Khemu’s second directorial venture following Madgaon Express. He is handling several responsibilities on the project, including writing, directing, producing and acting.

The film features Preity Zinta, Vanshika Dhir and Sparsh Shrivastava and is scheduled to be released in cinemas on September 18, 2026.
