KP CM Sohail Afridi kicks off five-day Sindh tour

SUKKUR: ) Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Khan Afridi arrived in Sindh on Thursday on a five-day visit, accompanied by PTI Secretary General Barrister Salman Akram Raja, MNA Makhdoomzada Zain Hussain Qureshi, PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar, provincial ministers Meena Khan Afridi and Shafi Jan, MNA Amir Dogar, Adil Bazai and other central leaders.

PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, General Secretary Dr Masroor Siyal, Mian Mohammad Aslam, Mir Iftikhar Lund and other provincial leaders received the KP chief minister and the central leadership.

CM KP Sohail Afridi travelled in a rally from Rahim Yar Khan airport to Khamoon Shaheed, on the Sindh-Punjab border, where PTI workers and local residents accorded him a warm welcome.

Addressing participants at Khamoon Shaheed, Sohail Afridi thanked the people of Sindh for their reception, saying that the people had given him a warm welcome during his previous visit as well, but the enthusiasm displayed this time suggested that previous records of public participation could be surpassed.

He said the people of Sindh knew who had been ruling the province for years and were witnessing the injustices being committed against them.

“Sindh is not being given its due rights and its right to development,” he said, adding that the public enthusiasm indicated that the “Zardari rule” in the province is nearing its end.

Sohail Afridi said the people of Sindh would soon get their rights through PTI founder Imran Khan. “PTI Sindh stands with the people of Sindh, and the people of Sindh also stand with Imran Khan,” he said.

Referring to the Sept 27 mobilisation, the chief minister asked the people whether they were ready for the movement announced by Imran Khan.

He said the ongoing street movement in preparation for Sept 27 had entered Sindh. “God willing, on Sept 27, the entire country will be on the streets from Karachi to Makran, Khyber to Mehran and Lahore to Gilgit-Baltistan,” he said.

PTI will stand with Sindh over its rights, says Salman Akram Raja

PTI Secretary General Barrister Salman Akram Raja said the party leadership had come to Sindh to convey Imran Khan’s message to its people a message of solidarity, development and protection of Sindh’s rights. “We stand with the people of Sindh and will struggle for their rights,” he said, adding that PTI would protect Sindh’s water and land.

Salman Akram Raja said the people of Sindh would decide the future of the province. “These fake rulers have no right to decide the fate of Sindh,” he said.

He said PTI would not allow oppression and coercion to be imposed on the people of Sindh.

“All Muslims and non-Muslims living in Sindh are heirs to this land,” he said, adding that the party would stand with the people of Sindh until the end and “the people will emerge victorious”.

Sindh ready for change, says Makhdoomzada Zain Qureshi

MNA Makhdoomzada Zain Hussain Qureshi welcomed Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the PTI central leadership to Sindh, and congratulated the people of the province for their enthusiastic reception at Khamoon Shaheed despite what he described as “fascism”.

He said Sindh is now ready for change and its people were prepared to break what he called “the shackles of oppression”.

“The welcome at Khamoon Shaheed will prove to be the first drop of rain,” he said.

Makhdoomzada Zain Hussain Qureshi said the entire province stood with Imran Khan and that the people of Sindh were supporting the struggle for what he termed “true freedom”. He said the entire nation wanted the release of Imran Khan, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi and all other political leaders.

18 years of corruption nearing end, says Haleem Adil Sheikh

PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh welcomed the KP chief minister and other central leaders, saying they had come to Sindh with Imran Khan’s message.

He said the people of Sindh had demonstrated on Thursday whom they supported and predicted that Sohail Afridi’s five-day visit would prove to be historic.

“The people have become fed up with the Pakistan Peoples Party. The PPP has destroyed Sindh over the past 18 years,” he alleged. Mr Sheikh accused the provincial government of continuously depriving the people of their rights and said those who “sell Sindh’s water” could not claim to be well-wishers of the province. He described the PPP as an “anti-Sindh party” and said what he called the 18-year era of corruption would soon come to an end.

He said Imran Khan would protect the rights of the people of Sindh. “Like the people across Pakistan, the people of Sindh also want Imran Khan’s freedom,” he said.

Haleem Adil Sheikh said public mobilisation and activities in connection with preparations for Sept 27 would continue in different districts during the chief minister’s five-day visit.

On Sept 3, Mr Afridi is scheduled to travel from Ghotki to Murid Shakh, Guddu, Kashmore and Kandhkot before reaching Jacobabad. On Sept 4, the itinerary includes Shikarpur, Garhi Yasin, Shahdadkot, Qambar, Larkana, Tando Masti and Naushahro Feroze. On Sept 5, the delegation is scheduled to travel from Naushahro Feroze to Nawabshah, Qazi Ahmed, Sanghar and Mirpurkhas before reaching Umerkot.

On Sept 6, Mr Afridi is scheduled to travel from Umerkot through Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar and Hyderabad to Karachi. He will address the Sindh High Court Bar before departing for Islamabad.
