PESHAWAR/KOHAT, September 18, 2026: Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed visited the site of the Kohat Police Lines mosque blast on Friday and reviewed the security situation and ongoing operational response.
According to a police update, the IGP was briefed by senior officials at the blast site about the incident, the latest developments and the measures being taken by the law enforcement agencies.

During the visit, Zulfiqar Hameed met the GOC Kohat, Regional Police Officer (RPO), District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat and other senior officers. He also interacted with police personnel deployed in the area and appreciated their response and commitment during the challenging situation.
The police chief encouraged the officers and personnel and sought to boost their morale following the attack. He also met officers who had commanded the operation and reviewed the role of specialised units involved in the response.
The IGP held a separate interaction with the Inspector General of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. He received an update on the latest operational situation and the measures being taken by the security agencies following the blast.
During his visit, the KP police chief reiterated the resolve of the provincial police force to counter militant violence and prevent further attacks.
“We are determined to foil the nefarious objectives of Fitna Al-Khawarij,” the IGP was quoted as saying in the police update.
He said the morale of the police personnel remained high and praised their determination to continue performing their duties despite the attack.
According to the police statement, the IGP said the force was prepared to confront those responsible for violence and protect the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
