Lahore Police arrest 296 suspects in one-day crackdown

LAHORE: Lahore Police arrested 296 suspects in a single day during various operations against criminal elements across the city.

According to DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, the Lahore Police Operations Wing conducted targeted operations in different areas of the city on Sunday. The operations targeted individuals involved in illegal weapons possession, drug trafficking, kite flying, theft, robbery and one-wheeling.

15 suspects arrested for illegal weapons

Police said 15 suspects were arrested for allegedly displaying illegal weapons and 14 cases were registered against them. Eleven pistols, two rifles and dozens of bullets were recovered from their possession.

Drugs and alcohol seized

During operations against drug dealers, 37 suspects were arrested. Police claimed to have recovered 11 kilograms and 749 grams of hashish, 3 kilograms and 930 grams of ice (crystal methamphetamine) and 184 litres of liquor from their possession.

Proclaimed and absconding suspects arrested

Police also arrested 191 proclaimed and absconding suspects during the operations. In addition, 22 individuals were arrested for violating the Kite Flying Act. Four suspects allegedly involved in theft and robbery were also arrested with police recovering stolen property worth Rs223,000 from their possession.

Action against one-wheeling

Police arrested 25 young men allegedly involved in dangerous one-wheeling on the city’s roads.

All available resources being used to protect citizens

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said Lahore Police is using all available resources to protect the lives and property of citizens and maintain law and order. He said operations against criminal activities and violations of the law would continue while further investigations into the arrested individuals are underway.
