Police have revealed that Nauman, the suspect in the Laiba Ejaz case, allegedly defrauded three women in Mansehra of millions of rupees by promising them government jobs.
According to police sources, the suspect approached the women with employment offers and collected large sums of money from them on the promise of securing their appointments. However, the appointment letters provided to the victims were allegedly fake.
One of the affected women said Nauman had taken Rs1.2 million from her in 2025 and handed her what appeared to be official appointment letters. She said she discovered that the documents were fraudulent when she checked them before reporting for duty.
Another woman accused the suspect of being involved in a serious fraud and claimed that his killing had resulted in the destruction of important evidence. She said the 2025 fraud case should have been investigated seriously, adding that timely action might have saved Laiba’s life.
The latest revelations have raised further questions about the alleged fraud network and the complaints previously made against the suspect.
Laiba Ejaz, who had hoped to pursue higher education in the United States, reportedly suffered severe financial losses and emotional distress after falling victim to an alleged overseas education scam.
She died by suicide last month, reportedly by hanging herself, after facing financial and psychological difficulties linked to the alleged fraud.
Following her death, Nauman was identified as the prime suspect in the case. However, he was later killed during police custody in an alleged exchange of fire after his own accomplices reportedly opened fire on the police party.
The allegations involving the three women from Mansehra have brought renewed attention to the earlier complaints against Nauman and raised concerns about how such fraud could continue despite previous cases.
