LDA speeds up Data Darbar expansion, reviews Nasir Bagh parking project

Director General of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Tahir Farooq, visited the ongoing Data Darbar Expansion Project and the underground Nasir Bagh Parking Plaza to review construction progress and direct officials to maintain the pace of development.

Advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister, Zeeshan Malik, accompanied the DG LDA during the inspection of the Data Darbar project. Chief Engineer Tepa Iqrar Hussain and project directors briefed the officials on the latest developments and the progress achieved so far.

Officials informed the visiting team that work continues at full speed across multiple sections of the project. Crews are laying tiles in the main courtyard while landscaping and greenery development also continue. At the same time, workers are upgrading the façades of buildings surrounding the shrine to improve the area’s overall appearance.

The project team also reported steady progress on the parking area, public washrooms, and the pedestrian underpass, where finishing work is underway. Zeeshan Malik appreciated the quality and pace of construction, saying the expansion project will significantly improve facilities for both pilgrims and residents once completed.

During the visit, officials also reviewed progress on the Bhatti Chowk Underpass. Engineers said construction teams are working simultaneously on both ramps while continuing work on the underpass barrel and retaining walls around the clock. DG LDA Tahir Farooq instructed the project team to further accelerate construction so the project reaches completion on schedule.

Later, the DG LDA inspected the underground Nasir Bagh Parking Plaza, where officials reported that approximately 65 percent of the project has been completed. They said the grey structure of Basement Two is complete, while construction on Basement One continues. According to the project team, workers expect to complete the roof slab of Basement One within the next few days.

Tahir Farooq reviewed construction quality in detail and directed officials to install signage, parking management systems, and fire alarm systems that meet international standards. He also stressed the importance of following strict safety protocols throughout the monsoon season to protect workers and ensure uninterrupted construction activities.

During the visit, the DG LDA planted a sapling under the ongoing tree plantation campaign at Nasir Bagh. Officials said the authority plans to plant more than 1,000 trees in the park as part of its efforts to enhance Lahore’s urban environment and green spaces.
