LHC reshuffles committees, reassigns districts to judges

LAHORE: Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Alia Neelam has approved a fresh administrative reshuffle involving the reconstitution of several judicial committees and the redistribution of districts among inspection judges across Punjab.

The changes were notified through Order No. 293/HR-I.Z.8 dated August 24, 2026, issued by Director General Establishment Ayat Ali Qamar. The latest order partially modifies an earlier administrative order issued on July 6, 2026.

Under the revised arrangements, several committees comprising LHC judges have been reorganised to handle a range of administrative and institutional matters. These include judicial automation, medical reimbursement, bar enrolment, anti-terrorism courts, women’s protection and assessment of the performance of the district judiciary.

The order also introduces a revised allocation of districts to inspection judges, who are responsible for monitoring the functioning and administrative affairs of the district judiciary in their respective jurisdictions.

In addition, a number of LHC judges have been nominated to serve on the syndicates of various universities across Punjab, further expanding the court’s administrative representation in educational institutions.

The detailed composition of the reconstituted committees, district-wise assignments and university nominations has been provided in the annexure attached to the notification.

The latest reshuffle forms part of the Lahore High Court’s continuing administrative efforts to strengthen judicial oversight, improve institutional coordination and enhance efficiency within the district judiciary.

The development follows several recent administrative measures by Chief Justice Alia Neelam, including the constitution of a Fitness Certificate Committee for enrolment of lawyers in the Supreme Court and the assignment of judges to oversee Anti-Terrorism Courts and the Special Appellate Court for Anti-Smuggling.

The revised committee structure and district assignments are expected to take effect immediately.
