A police constable has been suspended and issued a charge sheet after a video showing a uniformed officer allegedly hitting a man in the face with a shoe inside Gujar Khan Police Station went viral on social media.

Rawalpindi: A police constable has been suspended and issued a charge sheet after a video showing a uniformed officer allegedly hitting a man in the face with a shoe inside Gujar Khan Police Station went viral on social media.

The incident came to light after the video surfaced online prompting Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera to take notice of the alleged misconduct. The constable has been suspended and an inquiry into the incident has been ordered.

According to details, the parties involved in a dispute were brought to Gujar Khan Police Station following a call to the emergency helpline regarding an alleged fight over the occupation of a house.

During the incident, a man identified as Fayyaz Jajji was seen sitting inside the police station without shoes and wearing torn clothes. The viral video also contains the voices of several other people who were allegedly associated with the opposing party.

According to the footage an argument took place between Fayyaz and some people sitting in the room. During the exchange, Fayyaz reportedly responded to someone when a uniformed and armed police officer approached him holding a shoe and allegedly struck him in the face with it.

The officer can also allegedly be heard ordering the man to remain silent. Other individuals in the room were heard accusing him of continuing to issue threats despite being inside the police station.

Police sources said both parties had been taken to the Gujar Khan Police Station following an emergency call related to a dispute over the alleged occupation of a house. The alleged misconduct by the police constable occurred during the proceedings.

CPO Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera took immediate notice of the video and ordered action against the officer.

Constable Ehtisham was suspended and placed under disciplinary proceedings, while the SP Saddar was directed to conduct an inquiry and submit a report.

The CPO said violence or inappropriate treatment of any citizen by police personnel would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
