RAWALPINDI: Police have registered a case following an alleged sexual assault of a married woman in Rawalpindi and have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to police, the Kallar Syedan police took immediate action after receiving a complaint from the woman and arrested one of the suspects named in the case.
The complainant alleged in her statement that the arrested suspect and his accomplice sexually assaulted her. Following the complaint police registered a case and initiated legal proceedings.
Police officials said the arrested suspect would be presented before a court after the completion of the investigation and would be challaned on the basis of the available evidence.
Meanwhile, efforts to locate and arrest the second suspect are continuing with police teams conducting raids at different locations.
The Rawalpindi Police said the investigation was being carried out in accordance with the law and that evidence related to the case was being collected.
SP Saddar Anam Sher said that violence and harassment against women would not be tolerated. She directed that all necessary steps be taken to arrest the remaining suspect and bring those responsible to justice.
Police officials said further legal action would be taken as the investigation progresses.
Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information about the whereabouts of the wanted suspect to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
