After winning the toss and batting first, Pakistan posted an imposing total of 215-3 in 20 overs. Sri Lanka struggled during their chase and managed only 133-7 allowing Pakistan to take an unassailable 2-0 lead ahead of Tuesday’s final match.
Maaz was Pakistan’s standout batter smashing 96 runs from just 51 deliveries. His explosive knock included six fours and seven sixes showcasing his ability to accelerate the scoring against both spin and pace.
The left-handed batter initially took time to settle but capitalised on missed opportunities by Sri Lanka’s fielders. He reached his half-century in 29 balls before launching an aggressive assault on the opposition bowlers.
Maaz narrowly missed his maiden T20I century after being dismissed on the final delivery of Pakistan’s innings. Despite falling four runs short of the milestone his remarkable contribution helped Pakistan record their highest T20I total on home soil according to the match report.
