Police in Sargodha have solved the murder of a woman whose body was discovered in a canal near Bhalwal four days ago.
According to the district police spokesperson, investigators launched an inquiry after finding the throat-slit body of an unidentified woman in the canal. To establish her identity, police collected her fingerprints and used NADRA’s family tree database to trace her relatives.
After confirming the victim’s identity, investigators questioned her husband due to suspicious circumstances surrounding the case. During interrogation, he confessed to murdering his wife with the help of his brother.
The suspect told police that he used a sharp-edged weapon to cut his wife’s throat before dumping her body in the canal in an attempt to hide the crime. He further admitted that he wanted to marry another woman and killed his first wife to remove what he considered an obstacle to his second marriage.
Police revealed that the man solemnized a second marriage just one day after committing the murder.
Authorities have arrested both suspects and recovered the weapon allegedly used in the killing. Further legal proceedings are underway as investigators continue to gather evidence in the case.
