Marriage named life’s most unforgettable moment in study

What do you think is the most unforgettable moment in a person’s life? It is a question for which the answer may vary from person to person meaning there is no single answer everyone can agree on.

However, a new study has revealed what most people consider to be the most unforgettable moment of their lives.

According to a study conducted by British company John Lewis & Partners, 49 percent of people believe that getting married is the most memorable moment of life. This was followed by the birth of a first child which 47 percent of respondents considered the most special moment.

Similarly, 45 percent of people said that the death of a loved one was an experience they could never forget. The study included 2,000 people.

Overall, 57 percent of respondents described moments related to family as unforgettable while only 4 percent considered work and career-related achievements particularly significant.

Researchers said that life is constantly filled with new experiences and many events including moving into a first home, having children, going on holidays and reaching various important milestones make life special.

They added that people generally do not look back fondly on routine office activities whereas family-related experiences tend to remain memorable.

Nine out of every 10 people surveyed believed that preserving these special moments is very important. Similarly, 97 percent of respondents said they enjoy looking back on their memorable moments.

According to the study, 68 percent of people believe that remembering happy moments helps them cope with difficult days. The study also found that becoming a parent, buying a first home, passing a driving test, falling in love, meeting a partner for the first time, the death of a pet and getting engaged ranked from third to tenth among life’s most unforgettable moments.
