Meghan Markle reportedly wrote a letter to her estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr, informing him that she was aware of serious allegations against him involving the alleged possession of child sexual abuse material.
According to reports published by multiple media outlets on Saturday, October 24, the Duchess of Sussex sent the letter in December 2025, when her father was hospitalised following the amputation of his leg after a blood clot.
The reported letter allegedly addressed the accusations against Thomas Sr and made clear that Meghan no longer wished to maintain contact with him. She also reportedly stated that he would not be permitted to meet her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, whom she shares with her husband, Prince Harry.
According to a source, hospital staff delivered the letter to Thomas Sr’s bedside, where he was allegedly asked to sign a form acknowledging its receipt. However, Thomas Sr has denied receiving any such letter from his daughter.
Meghan explains decision to remain estranged
Meghan and her father have been estranged since 2018. Earlier this week, the Duchess revealed that she had been informed of allegations against him in 2018 through correspondence from the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection.
In a statement, Meghan said the letter contained troubling and disturbing allegations and that she had been assured the matter was being investigated by the relevant authorities.
She also sought to clarify the reasons behind her decision to remain distant from her father and prevent him from having contact with her children. Meghan said her decision was motivated by concerns for their safety and expressed hope that the circumstances would help explain her position despite what she described as misleading media coverage over the years.
She added that she had trusted the authorities to investigate the allegations and take appropriate steps to protect other families.
Allegations against Thomas Markle Sr
Earlier this week, reported that Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, 60, had alerted authorities after allegedly discovering hundreds or potentially thousands of child sexual abuse images at their father’s home in Cebu, the Philippines.
According to the report, the material allegedly included videos depicting girls believed to be younger than 11 engaged in sexual acts, along with three photographs of naked girls. One of the photographs was reportedly believed to have been taken at Thomas Sr’s former residence in Rosarito, Mexico.
Subsequent reports claimed that the letter sent to Meghan in 2018 also referred to an allegation of sexual assault involving a child. Thomas Sr has publicly denied the accusations.
The allegations have brought renewed attention to the long-standing estrangement between Meghan and her father, as well as the circumstances surrounding her decision to keep her children away from him.
Thomas Markle Sr denies receiving letter
Responding to the reports, Thomas Sr denied receiving a letter from Meghan informing him of the allegations.
He told that neither Meghan nor anyone else had informed him about the alleged correspondence in 2018. He maintained that, had he been told about the letter at the time, he would have had an opportunity to respond to the accusations.
The reported correspondence and the allegations against Thomas Sr have intensified public scrutiny of the family dispute. However, the accusations remain allegations, and Thomas Sr has denied them.
