KARACHI: The judicial commission investigating the murder of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza has completed its officially assigned term, while the Sindh Home Department has yet to decide whether to grant it an extension.

The commission has formally requested additional time until October 15 to complete the recording of witness statements and finalise its report. However, no notification regarding an extension has been issued so far.

The commission was formally constituted through a notification issued by the Sindh Home Department on August 24 and began its proceedings on August 27. It was initially directed to complete its investigation within one month.

Two witnesses were scheduled to appear before the commission today to record their statements. However, their proceedings could be affected if the extension is not formally approved.

Meanwhile, Mir Raza’s family has continued to seek answers from senior police officials and has requested that they be summoned before the commission to address questions surrounding the case.
