Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi has ordered authorities to adopt a strict zero-tolerance policy against rape cases across the province.

He said individuals involved in such crimes must face strict legal action and should not be allowed to escape punishment under any circumstances.

The chief minister stressed that offenders involved in sexual violence should be made an example to discourage similar crimes and strengthen public confidence in the justice system.

He issued these directives while chairing a high-level meeting to review development projects, law and order, governance and public service delivery in the Kohat Division.

During the meeting, the chief minister reviewed the overall security situation in different districts of the province, with particular focus on the southern regions.

He said maintaining peace and improving security remained among the provincial government’s top priorities.

Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi noted that the law and order situation in southern districts requires special attention due to existing security challenges.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing these issues and ensuring a peaceful environment for citizens.

The chief minister expressed the hope that the new fiscal year would bring greater stability, development and prosperity to the province.

He said public satisfaction and trust in government institutions would remain the true measure of success for the provincial administration.

According to the chief minister, divisional-level review meetings are being formally launched following the approval of the provincial budget to monitor progress and improve governance.

He said these meetings would help authorities identify challenges, improve coordination and ensure the effective implementation of government policies.

The chief minister highlighted that significant financial resources have been allocated in the provincial budget for the police, health and education sectors.

He said the additional funding would help strengthen public institutions and improve essential services across the province.

Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi also revealed that increasing police strength in southern districts is under consideration to further enhance security and law enforcement capacity.

He directed district administrations to remain in close contact with local communities and respond promptly to public concerns.

The chief minister instructed officials to improve service delivery and ensure that government departments remain accessible and responsive to citizens.

He also ordered authorities to ensure the timely completion of development projects so that people can benefit from improved infrastructure and facilities without unnecessary delays.

The chief minister directed relevant departments to speed up efforts aimed at finding a permanent solution to the shortage of clean drinking water in southern districts.

He said access to safe drinking water is a basic right and improving water supply systems remains a priority for the provincial government.

Addressing the issue of narcotics, the chief minister described drug abuse as a serious social challenge affecting families and communities.

He ordered an indiscriminate crackdown against drug traffickers and dealers operating in different parts of the province.

At the same time, he directed authorities to introduce and strengthen rehabilitation programmes for individuals struggling with drug addiction.

He said both enforcement and rehabilitation are necessary to effectively tackle the growing problem of narcotics.

The meeting concluded with instructions for officials to strengthen governance, improve public services and ensure that development initiatives directly benefit people across the province.
