Nadia Jamil slams Mufti Tariq’s controversial remarks

Pakistani actress and social activist Nadia Jamil has strongly criticised controversial remarks attributed to religious scholar Mufti Tariq Masood, describing them as dangerous and deeply concerning in a society already grappling with violence against women.

The actress reacted after a video clip featuring Mufti Tariq Masood circulated widely on social media. In the video, he reportedly spoke about men having multiple marriages and made remarks involving young girls that triggered widespread outrage online.

Nadia reshared the clip on her Instagram Story after it was posted by digital creator Areej Jamil. Expressing her concern, she said such statements could have serious consequences, particularly at a time when women continue to face abuse, sexual violence and other forms of discrimination.

She argued that public figures should be mindful of the impact of their words and rejected rhetoric that could contribute to hostility against women. Nadia also highlighted the contributions of educated and accomplished Muslim women throughout history.
