NADRA updates Pak Identity app with new digital services

ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new version, 5.7.4 of its Pak Identity mobile app introducing several new facilities for citizens and overseas Pakistanis.

According to NADRA, the update aims to provide more services to citizens from the comfort of their homes and reduce the need to visit offices to obtain identity documents. According to NADRA Public Information Officer Syed Shahabahat Ali, the new update includes four major facilities.

Facility to file and track FIA complaints through app

The new version includes an option for complaints related to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). NADRA said that the technical work has been completed while the FIA is finalizing the necessary preparations on its side.

Once the facility becomes active, citizens will be able to file complaints with the FIA through the Pak Identity app and subsequently track the progress of their complaints or cases. Once activated, the facility will reduce the need for citizens to visit FIA offices to submit complaints.

Instant Digital CNIC and POC after approval

The new update has also simplified the process of obtaining Digital CNICs and Pakistan Origin Cards (POCs). According to NADRA, the digital version of an identity document will become available on the Pak Identity app immediately after confirmation of its printing and dispatch.

The facility will also be available to applicants who submitted their applications through a NADRA centre or through the Pak Identity app.

According to NADRA, the relevant digital identity document will have the same legal status as the physical card under existing digital laws. Relevant institutions have also been informed to accept the digital document for identity verification.

Easier to add missing family members to FRC

NADRA has also simplified the process of adding a missing family member to the Family Registration Certificate (FRC). Users can now submit a request through the app by following:

• Apply for FRC → Is any family member missing? → Click here → Add Relative

If the relevant person has a CNIC, a request to modify the CNIC record will be initiated. Once approved, users will be able to obtain the FRC again with the updated family composition.

If the person does not have a CNIC, their name can be directly added to the specific FRC. However, in this case, the name will not be added to NADRA’s central family composition record.

Signature image will be automatically cropped

The new version also includes an auto-crop feature to reduce problems when uploading signatures. During the application process, the feature will automatically focus and crop the signature image.

This will reduce the chances of applications being rejected because the signature is too small or not positioned correctly within the image.

Succession Certificate Verification facility also available

NADRA reminded users that the previous update also introduced the Succession Certificate Verification Facility. Through this feature, citizens can verify a Succession Certificate or Letter of Administration within minutes by accessing the relevant icon.

NADRA said tutorial videos are also available on its YouTube channel to guide users on how to use the facility.

More digital services in pipeline

The Pak Identity app is available for Android and iOS users and offers various services, including CNIC renewal, fee payments, biometric verification and Proof of Life for pensioners.

NADRA has also invited citizens to provide suggestions and feedback for future updates so that more government services can be delivered through digital platforms from the comfort of citizens homes.
