Natasha acquitted in drug case linked to Karsaz accident

KARACHI: A Karachi judicial magistrate’s court has acquitted Natasha, who was facing a separate drug-related case stemming from the fatal Karsaz road accident, after the prosecution failed to establish the charge against her.

The court ruled that the medical evidence presented during the proceedings did not prove that Natasha had consumed drugs. It also noted that her blood test showed no evidence of drug use, leaving the prosecution unable to substantiate the allegation under the anti-narcotics law.

The case relates to a fatal accident in August 2024, when Natasha allegedly drove a vehicle onto Karsaz Road and struck a motorcycle carrying a father and his daughter. Imran Arif and his daughter, Amina Imran, died in the incident, while two other people, Abdul Salam and Shane Alexander, were injured.

Following the crash, police registered a case at Bahadurabad police station on a complaint filed by Imran’s brother, Imtiaz. A separate case was subsequently registered against Natasha under the anti-narcotics law over allegations concerning drug use.

During Thursday’s proceedings, the prosecution informed the court that Natasha had already been acquitted in the main case related to the Karsaz accident.

After examining the evidence, the magistrate concluded that the prosecution had failed to prove the drug-use allegation beyond the required legal standard. Natasha was therefore acquitted in the anti-narcotics case as well.
