Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced that the lower house of Parliament has completed its debate on the federal budget after seven days of discussions.
Addressing the National Assembly session that he chaired, Ayaz Sadiq said that 232 lawmakers participated in the budget debate. Members collectively spoke for 53 hours and 31 minutes, reflecting broad engagement from both the treasury and opposition benches.
According to the Speaker, 151 government lawmakers and 81 opposition members took part in the discussions. Treasury members spoke for 34 hours and 33 minutes, while opposition legislators contributed 18 hours and 58 minutes to the debate.
Providing a party-wise breakdown, Ayaz Sadiq said that 77 members from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), 49 from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and 20 from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) participated in the debate. On the opposition side, 67 members from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), one member from the Sunni Ittehad Council, and 10 members from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) spoke on the budget.
