Nawaz, Maryam to lead PML-N campaign in AJK

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided that party president Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will lead its election campaign in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) ahead of the upcoming general elections.

The decision was made during a high-level consultative meeting attended by the party’s central and AJK leadership. The meeting reviewed preparations for Nawaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to the region and discussed the party’s campaign strategy, organisational matters, and election arrangements.

According to party leaders, Nawaz Sharif will address two major public rallies during his visit. One gathering will be held in Muzaffarabad, while the second will take place in Mirpur. Maryam Nawaz is also expected to accompany him and address supporters at both public meetings.

The leadership directed party workers to intensify election activities across the region. Workers were instructed to launch an extensive door-to-door campaign, increase public outreach, and mobilise supporters before polling day. Leaders stressed the importance of maintaining close contact with voters in every constituency.

The meeting also reviewed arrangements for the public rallies, election coordination, and the party’s overall strategy for the July 27 elections. Participants discussed ways to strengthen the party’s organisational structure and ensure an active campaign throughout AJK.

Speaking during the meeting, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam said the PML-N would run a strong election campaign focused on development, public welfare, and improving the quality of life for the people of AJK. He said resolving public issues and ensuring long-term development remained among the party’s main priorities.

Muqam highlighted several development projects completed under the PML-N government. He also referred to the federal government’s decision to establish Daanish Schools in Azad Kashmir, saying the initiative reflected the party’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities for the younger generation.
