Nawaz Sharif expresses appreciation for overseas Pakistanis’ contributions

LAHORE: Pakistan Press Club UK International Chairman Azhar Javaid met former Prime Minister and President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at his residence in Jati Umra, Lahore.

During the meeting, Azhar Javaid briefed Nawaz Sharif on the mission and objectives of Pakistan Press Club UK International, particularly its efforts for the welfare, professional support and better representation of overseas Pakistani journalists.

The meeting was followed by lunch, during which the two sides exchanged views on matters concerning overseas Pakistanis and the Pakistani media community abroad.

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said he highly valued the contribution of overseas Pakistanis, who, he noted, had played an important role in the development and progress of Pakistan.

He appreciated the services of Pakistanis living abroad and acknowledged th eir continued contribution to the country.

Azhar Javaid said Pakistan Press Club UK International was committed to working for the welfare of overseas Pakistani journalists and providing a platform to address their professional issues.

He said overseas Pakistani journalists had an important role in strengthening Pakistan’s relationship with the international community and projecting the country’s positive image abroad.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on the role of the Pakistani diaspora and the importance of stronger engagement with overseas Pakistani professionals and journalists.
