NCCIA Lahore Cracks Down On Cybercrime – 281 Arrested From 7 Illegal Call Centers, Rs 1.92 Crore Recovered

Additional Director NCCIA Lahore Zone, Atif Ameer*, held a detailed press conference on the agency’s ongoing operations against cybercrime.

*MAJOR OPERATION AGAINST ILLEGAL CALL CENTERS*

Atif Ameer revealed that *7 illegal call centers* have been raided, leading to the arrest of *281 accused.*

– *260 Pakistanis and 21 foreign nationals* among arrested
– *20 women* also included in arrested accused
– *Foreigners include:* 12 Chinese, 5 Filipino, 2 Vietnamese, 1 Malaysian and 1 Nepali citizen

During the operations, huge cache of digital equipment was recovered:
*362 mobile phones, 191 computer systems, 74 laptops, 127 other digital devices and 550 SIMs.*

*CRACKDOWN ON CHILD EXPLOITATION MATERIAL*

Operations against online crimes related to children are underway.

– *Hassan Akram* arrested for sharing objectionable content related to children
– *Muhammad Faizan Ahmed* arrested for uploading child sexual abuse material
– *Ammar* arrested for sharing child pornographic material in WhatsApp groups

*ACTION AGAINST ONLINE HARASSMENT & SEXTORTION*

NCCIA is also acting against those sharing objectionable photos and videos.

*Safdar Hussain* was arrested for luring girls with false promises of marriage and then making objectionable content.

*FINANCIAL FRAUD – Rs 1.92 CRORE RECOVERED*

Operations against elements involved in financial fraud through *JazzCash, Easypaisa and bank accounts* are also continuing.

– *5 cases and 10 inquiries* – accused arrested in financial fraud
– *Recovery of Rs 1,92,46,240* during operations against financial fraud
– Forensic examination of seized digital devices is underway

Additional Director Atif Ameer said that *indiscriminate legal action will be taken against elements involved in cybercrimes* and for public convenience, *open court (Khuli Kachehri) has been started three days a week.*
