OPF Chairman Syed Qamar Raza rejects claims over peace initiative, says effort was personal attempt for dialogue

Chairman Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Syed Qamar Raza has rejected claims made by the Joint Action Committee, saying his contact with the group was a personal effort aimed at promoting peace, dialogue and a peaceful resolution of issues.

In a statement, Syed Qamar Raza said he approached the concerned individuals out of concern for the public interest and with the intention of encouraging a move away from confrontation towards negotiations and a logical solution.

He clarified that he was not representing any third party, government institution or organisation during the communication, but had taken the initiative in his personal capacity for the wider interest of overseas Pakistanis and the public.

The OPF chairman alleged that his efforts were misrepresented and used to promote a political narrative rather than focusing on resolving issues through peaceful engagement.

He stressed that genuine attempts for reconciliation and dialogue should not be turned into controversy or exploited for political gains.

Syed Qamar Raza also urged media organisations and commentators to verify claims from all sides and maintain responsible reporting standards while covering sensitive issues.
