Pak Hajj app introduces new facilities for pilgrims

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs has introduced several new features on the Pak Hajj app to make the Hajj application and travel process easier for intending pilgrims.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, successful Hajj applicants can now modify the duration of their package and make changes to their accommodation arrangements from home. The new features are aimed at reducing the need for pilgrims to visit offices for routine changes and services.

Under the updated system, pilgrims will be able to select their preferred accommodation option through the app. They can choose between two-bed and three-bed rooms, family rooms or shared accommodation, depending on the available options.

The app also allows pilgrims to change the duration of their Hajj package. Those who have selected a long package can request a change to a short package, while applicants with a short package can also switch to a longer package through the digital system.

The ministry has also outlined the procedure for medical fitness certificates. Pilgrims can print their fitness certificate through the Pak Hajj app and have it verified by an authorised doctor.

After the certificate has been examined and verified, pilgrims are required to upload it again through the Pak Hajj app or the Hajj portal. Overseas Pakistanis can obtain their medical fitness certificates from authorised doctors near their place of residence and upload the verified documents through the digital platform.

The ministry has also introduced a facility for successful pilgrims to apply for a Mahram or helper under the hardship quota, where applicable. This option is intended to assist pilgrims who require a companion because of specific circumstances covered under the relevant rules.

Another feature allows applicants to cancel their Hajj application and seek a refund if they are unable to perform Hajj due to unavoidable circumstances. The cancellation and refund process has been incorporated into the digital system to make the procedure easier for applicants.

Meanwhile, bookings under the private Hajj scheme are continuing through the Digital Hajj Portal developed by the National Information Technology Board.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has warned applicants against booking or making payments for private Hajj arrangements outside the official Hajj portal. Pilgrims have been advised to use the authorised digital platform to avoid potential fraud or unauthorised transactions.

According to the ministry, around 26,000 applications under the private Hajj scheme have so far been completed, while approximately 45,000 seats remain available.

The ministry said the new digital facilities are part of efforts to improve convenience, transparency and access to Hajj-related services for pilgrims in Pakistan and overseas.
