The operation was carried out by the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) in partnership with global energy company Vitol. Around 2,500 metric tons of International Maritime Organization (IMO)-compliant Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) were supplied to the UAE-owned LNG vessel ENUGU.

The marine fuel used in the operation was produced locally by Cnergyico PK Limited at its refinery in Pakistan. The development highlights the country’s growing ability to produce and supply fuel that meets international maritime standards.

Industry experts described the achievement as an important step towards developing a modern marine fuel supply network in Pakistan. The successful operation is expected to strengthen Gwadar Port’s role in regional and international shipping activities.

With global shipping routes facing increasing challenges due to geopolitical tensions, Gwadar has the potential to emerge as a reliable and strategic refuelling hub for international vessels. Its location and growing infrastructure could help attract more maritime traffic and create new opportunities for Pakistan’s blue economy.

The milestone is also seen as a boost for Pakistan’s efforts to expand its maritime services, enhance trade connectivity, and increase its role in the global shipping industry.
