Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka ODI tri-series proposed schedule

LAHORE: A proposed schedule for the much-anticipated ODI tri-series featuring Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka has emerged, with the tournament set to be staged across Rawalpindi and Lahore from October 18 to November 1.

According to sources, the three-team competition is expected to feature six league matches followed by a final, giving cricket fans in Pakistan another major international event to look forward to later this year.

The opening phase of the series is proposed to take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where three matches are scheduled for October 18, 20 and 22.

The tournament will then move to Lahore for the second phase. Three further league matches are proposed at Gaddafi Stadium on October 25, 27 and 29.

The final has been proposed for November 1 in Lahore, potentially providing a high-profile conclusion to the competition.

However, the schedule has not yet been officially confirmed. Sources said the Pakistan Cricket Board and the cricket boards of England and Sri Lanka are holding consultations before the final dates and venues are announced.

The tri-series is expected to provide all three teams with valuable preparation for their upcoming international commitments. For Pakistan, home conditions could offer an opportunity to test combinations and strengthen the squad in the 50-over format.

England and Sri Lanka are also expected to use the series to assess players and fine-tune their strategies ahead of future international assignments.

Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan is set to extend beyond the tri-series. According to sources, the Sri Lankan side is also scheduled to play two Test matches and three T20 internationals during the tour.

Discussions are currently under way regarding the dates and venues for those matches. The final itinerary is expected to be announced after consultations between the two boards.

The proposed tri-series schedule has already generated interest among Pakistan cricket fans, particularly because the matches are planned for two of the country’s major cricket venues.

The Rawalpindi leg would open the tournament with three consecutive matches before the action shifts to Lahore, where the remaining league fixtures and final are expected to be played.

If approved, the October-November series will give Pakistan a valuable opportunity to play competitive ODI cricket at home against two strong international sides.
