Pakistan joins multinational special forces exercise in Uzbekistan

Pakistani special forces took part in the multinational military exercise Eternal Brotherhood-5 in Uzbekistan, aimed at strengthening cooperation and operational capabilities among participating countries.

The exercise was held from September 13 to 25 and brought together special forces from Pakistan, Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan participated as an observer.

The joint training focused on improving coordination, communication and professional skills among the participating forces. Personnel also exchanged experiences on modern military operations, combat techniques and approaches to emerging security challenges.

The exercise provided an opportunity for the participating countries to enhance their operational readiness and share expertise in dealing with complex security situations.

Eternal Brotherhood-5 also highlighted the expanding defence and military cooperation among Pakistan and the participating countries. Joint exercises such as these are regularly organised to improve interoperability and strengthen relations between friendly armed forces.

Pakistan has participated in several bilateral and multinational military exercises in recent years. Earlier this year, Pakistani and Egyptian forces conducted a two-week counter-terrorism exercise.

Pakistan and the United States also held their 13th bilateral joint military exercise, Inspired Gambit 2026, in January, with a focus on counter-terrorism operations.

Pakistan and Kazakhstan conducted a two-week joint counter-terrorism training exercise in October 2025. The exercise focused on strengthening military ties and improving cooperation between the two countries.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan have also agreed to expand cooperation in joint military training, professional development and the exchange of best practices.

Last month, Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia agreed to establish a mechanism for joint military training under their trilateral defence cooperation framework.
