Pakistan and Kuwait have called for an immediate de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East as the military confrontation between the United States and Iran continues to intensify, raising concerns over regional peace and global security.

According to an official statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to discuss the latest security situation in the region.

During the conversation, the Kuwaiti foreign minister expressed serious concern over the continuing attacks on his country’s territory. He stressed the importance of restraint and urged all parties to avoid actions that could further escalate the conflict.

The Kuwaiti minister also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role in promoting dialogue and supporting efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East.

Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent position that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only effective way to resolve regional disputes. He emphasized the urgent need for all sides to exercise maximum restraint and avoid further military escalation.

The deputy prime minister also stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all states in accordance with international law.

Dar further highlighted the need to uphold the ceasefire commitments made under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). He said full implementation of the agreement is essential to reducing tensions and preventing further violence in the region.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on developments affecting regional peace and mutual interests.

The conversation took place as fighting between the United States and Iran continued to spread across the Middle East. In recent days, Iran has claimed responsibility for missile and drone attacks targeting US military facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan following continued American strikes on Iranian military sites.

The escalating conflict has also affected civilian infrastructure and transportation across the Gulf region. Kuwaiti authorities reported damage to an important oil facility following the attacks, while emergency teams responded to the affected areas.

Kuwait also temporarily suspended flight operations at Kuwait International Airport because of the deteriorating security situation. Several flights were delayed or rescheduled as a precautionary measure.

The military confrontation has also increased tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime routes for global oil exports. Continued instability in the region has raised concerns over energy supplies and contributed to higher international oil prices.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has expressed concern over the growing conflict and called for restraint. UN officials warned that attacks on civilian infrastructure and the continued escalation could have serious humanitarian and regional consequences.
