The Pakistan Navy has launched its major maritime exercise, Sea Spark 2026, in Karachi. The exercise is aimed at strengthening operational preparedness and testing the force’s ability to respond to different maritime threats.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf was the chief guest at the opening briefing of the exercise. He reviewed the objectives and operational scope of the exercise. Senior naval officers and personnel also attended the briefing.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf said the Pakistan Navy could not compromise on operational readiness. He said the regional security environment remained unstable and complex. He stressed that the Navy must remain fully prepared to deal with changing security challenges.
The Naval Chief also highlighted the changing nature of modern warfare. He called for stronger joint planning among the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force. He said coordination among the three services was essential for effective military operations.
Admiral Ashraf also underlined the growing importance of the information domain. He said modern conflicts were no longer limited to traditional battlefields. Information, technology and coordinated operations have become important elements of military strategy.
Sea Spark 2026 will assess the Pakistan Navy’s preparedness against conventional and emerging maritime threats. The exercise will test operational plans under different scenarios. It will also evaluate the ability of various naval units to work together during complex operations.
A large number of Pakistan Navy assets are participating in the exercise. These include warships, submarines, aircraft and drones. Pakistan Marines and Special Operations Forces are also taking part.
The participation of the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force will further strengthen the joint nature of the exercise.
