Pakistan has expressed serious concern over the growing tensions in the Middle East and urged all parties to exercise restraint to prevent further escalation.

The Foreign Office said all sides should take immediate steps to reduce tensions and fulfil their commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Pakistan reiterated its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in the region. It stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability.

The statement came after renewed clashes between the United States and Iran, with both sides carrying out missile and drone attacks. The escalation has increased fears of a wider regional conflict.

The US-Iran ceasefire agreement, facilitated through Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, was aimed at creating a 60-day period for negotiations on a permanent settlement. However, indirect talks held in Qatar recently ended without major progress.

The latest hostilities have also affected Gulf security, with Iran announcing the closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The move has raised concerns over international shipping and global energy supplies.

Pakistan said it remains committed to supporting peace initiatives and will continue efforts to promote stability through diplomatic channels.

The government emphasized that avoiding confrontation and maintaining communication between all sides are essential to preventing further instability in the region.
