Islamabad: Pakistan has gone nearly a decade without publishing its Annual National Environment Report, with the last report issued in 2016, the National Assembly Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination was informed.

The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency told the committee that a new report covering the last five years is now being prepared and is expected to be published by December 15, 2026.

The disclosure came during a meeting of the committee chaired by Munaza Hassan at Parliament House, where members questioned the long delay in producing a national report on the country’s environmental condition.

The committee was informed that work on the new report had been continuing for about one year. Officials said data covering air quality, water, forests and other environmental areas was being collected and compiled for the report.

Pak EPA said it was preparing the report with the Sustainable Development Policy Institute and other technical support. The agency said consultations had been continuing as data from provinces and different government departments was being brought together.
