Parineeti Chopra has put an end to speculation about a possible disagreement with Jennifer Winget, clarifying that the two actresses share a warm relationship following the success party of their series Shaque: Trust No One.
The rumours began circulating online after a video from the celebration showed the actresses standing beside each other before a cake-cutting ceremony. As several people gathered closer, the limited space left Winget standing behind Chopra. The actress was later seen attempting to peek out from behind her co-star during a group photograph.
The brief moment quickly attracted attention on social media, with some users interpreting it as a sign of tension between the two actresses. The speculation gained momentum as videos and posts discussing their interaction spread across various platforms.
However, Chopra has now responded to the controversy, making it clear that there is no feud between her and Winget.
On Tuesday, the Ishaqzaade actress took to her Instagram Stories to criticise trolls and individuals she described as self-proclaimed journalists for creating a misleading narrative about their relationship.
Chopra also revealed that she and Winget had watched the viral videos together and found the speculation amusing rather than upsetting.
“Jenny and I have spent the last two days watching some rather ‘creative’ videos by self-proclaimed journalists. And guess what? The joke’s on you, because we’ve been laughing. Hysterically!” she wrote.
The actress went on to express her admiration for Winget, praising her acting abilities and describing her as one of her favourite people.
“Your wild interpretations only make you look foolish. Jenny is, and will ALWAYS be, my favourite girl! She was my favourite in Shaque, and what a brilliant actor she is!” Chopra added.
She also questioned the intentions of those attempting to turn a brief moment into a controversy, suggesting that they should focus on more meaningful work instead of creating stories for attention.
Despite her criticism, Chopra ended her statement on a light-hearted note, thanking those responsible for the speculation for providing her and Winget with entertainment.
Her response made it clear that the actresses were not taking the rumours seriously and remained comfortable with each other.
Jennifer Winget also addresses speculation
A day before Chopra’s statement, Winget had also addressed the growing speculation through her Instagram Stories.
The actress urged people to be kinder to one another and avoid spreading negativity by reading too much into an ordinary moment. She explained that she had simply stepped back during the cake-cutting ceremony because there was not enough space.
Winget also praised Chopra for her kindness and affection, directly dismissing suggestions that the two had developed differences.
“Let’s please be kinder to each other and stop the negativity and make this into something it isn’t. I simply backed out because there was not enough space there,” she wrote.
She further emphasised that Chopra had always treated her warmly and that their relationship was built on mutual affection and respect.
“Pari has always been kind and loving towards me, and we have nothing but love for each other. We’re a team, and there’s enough room for all of us to shine without pulling each other down. Thank you,” Winget added.
Both actresses have now publicly rejected the claims, encouraging fans to avoid drawing conclusions from short video clips taken out of context.
